Job description

Holder Construction is currently seeking a Field Engineer Technician to support our Field Supervision in Florence, SC.

The perfect person for this position is a team player who thrives in a challenging and fast‑paced yet supported environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of teamwork, the ability to work independently on assignments, handle multiple projects at one time while remaining flexible, and working within tight deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Operate electronic total station instrument, transit, Auto‑level and other surveying instruments.
  • Set and mark stakes for slopes, grades and other construction purposes.
  • Determine and set markers.
  • Determine lines, corners, elevations, grades, alignments, angles, positions, and distances.
  • Maintain total station and field book.
  • Maintain survey equipment and tools.
  • Provide primary support to our field supervision and demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks, maintain professionalism, and use critical thinking to solve issues.
Qualifications
  • 2 years of construction/surveying experience using total station and site levels.
  • High school diploma/GED, complete understanding of surveying math, and good communication skills.
  • Agile/mobile, remain alert, able to stand or walk for long periods, use fingers, hands & arms to reach, handle and manipulate objects, climb up/down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects, work on uneven surfaces/heights, be able to read/write, have the ability to see & hear well either naturally or with correction.
  • Must be able to lift and carry materials of all shapes and sizes weighing 50 lbs., 75% of the time.
Physical & Safety Requirements
  • Work in an OSHA compliant safety environment, work outside and must be able to work overtime and weekend hours.
  • Punctuality and promptness are required every day.
