Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Field Engineer to join our Power Market field operations. You will contribute to mechanical, electrical and heavy industrial construction projects, travel or relocate as required, and uphold our safety standards on every site.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving and strong work ethic. You will assist with planning, cost tracking, scheduling, and coordination with owners, subcontractors and vendors, while reading drawings and specifications to guide project execution

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work without sponsorship to begin or continue employment.
  • Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and owner specifications.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling and cost control techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Hard Dollar, Revit, SAP, ProLog or Primavera “P6” is a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Willingness to relocate and travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a dynamic team to build, estimate, and schedule, mechanical, electrical, and heavy industrial construction projects
  • Prepare detailed work plans and schedules to guide project execution
  • Ensure quality control, manage and track costs, purchase and manage materials, and maintain schedule and equipment logistics
  • Administer safety programs with strict adherence to Kiewit’s “Nobody Gets Hurt” philosophy
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with owners and stakeholders
  • Support both administrative and field operations: review drawings/specs, perform material takeoffs, and prepare cost estimates
  • Supervise subcontractors, coordinate with vendors, and uphold high construction standards

District Overview

The Kiewit Power Market provides direct-hire and construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union and non-union craft force. The Kiewit Power Market builds major EPC and bid-build natural gas power plants, solar fields, nuclear facilities and energy storage systems throughout North America. Base Compensation: $85,000-$90,000
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
