Job summary

Solutionz, Inc. is seeking a Field Engineer in Paulsboro, NJ to design, commission, troubleshoot, and manage integrated audiovisual systems installations across Southern New Jersey and the Greater Philadelphia area.

You will lead technical aspects on site, ensure compliance with SOF and customer expectations, and coordinate with project managers and installation staff. The role requires 3+ years in AV field engineering, travel to job sites, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• CTS certification preferred.
• 3+ years of experience supporting audiovisual systems installation, commissioning, or engineering.
• Strong understanding of integrated AV systems, control systems, DSP platforms, and network infrastructure.
• Experience with system commissioning, troubleshooting, and field engineering activities.
• Working knowledge of audiovisual industry standards and best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, system schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience configuring networked AV systems.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Willingness to travel locally and work occasional after-hours schedules as required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that systems are commissioned in accordance with the approved Statement of Functionality (SOF), Technical Scope of Work, and customer requirements.
• Confirm that system designs meet the scope of work and align with customer expectations for system operation and performance.
• Modify system engineering as necessary while documenting redline updates on system drawings.
• Provide clear and concise documentation for required system configurations, including network, video, DSP, and other technical settings.
• Identify and assist with change orders during the installation phase and communicate changes to the Project Manager.
• Diagnose and resolve system deficiencies while developing effective technical solutions.
• Establish and maintain positive and effective communication with project stakeholders and team members.
• Keep Project Managers informed of development progress and programming status on assigned projects.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and documentation of control programming standards, including graphical appearance, custom code, and system functionality.
• Ensure all programming adheres to Solutionz standards and approved templates.
• Program and configure audio DSP systems to meet design requirements and deliver optimal system performance.
• Assist other departments with technical support issues as needed.
• Ensure fabrication and installation activities follow AV industry best practices.
• Complete system testing and customer acceptance activities both remotely and onsite.
• Perform research and development tasks in-house and in the field as needed.
• Partner with Solutionz departments to support technical escalations from field teams.
• Work independently and collaboratively as part of a project team.
• Mentor and support less experienced technical staff.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Field Engineer Team Lead and/or Director of Engineering.

This is a local, field-based position supporting projects throughout Southern New Jersey, the Greater Philadelphia area, and surrounding markets. Candidates should be based within reasonable commuting distance of Solutionz, Inc.'s Paulsboro office. Regular travel to customer job sites is required.

Description

The Field Engineer is responsible for the design, specification, commissioning, troubleshooting, and management of integrated audiovisual systems installations. This role ensures systems are deployed according to the approved Statement of Functionality (SOF), Technical Scope of Work, and customer expectations. The Field Engineer serves as a technical leader during implementation, supports project teams, and works closely with customers, project managers, and installation personnel to ensure successful project delivery.
