Job summary

UL Solutions is hiring a Field Engineer to perform safety and non-safety certification inspections, audits of quality systems, and field evaluations on-site with customers in the Kansas City area. You will analyze test results, verify equipment, and collaborate with manufacturers and authorities having jurisdiction.

The role requires travel locally, strong technical/mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read schematics. A university degree or equivalent certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent technical certification in engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience in Field Engineering, Compliance or Quality Engineering preferred.
• ASQ certification a plus.
• Ability to travel locally and regionally; daily client visits within the Kansas City area.
• Must be located or willing to relocate to the Kansas City area.

Responsibilities

• Assists in analyzing and evaluating examination and test results against applicable requirements.
• Uses technical judgement to determine whether noncompliance variations compromise UL Mark applicability.
• Interprets and analyzes examination results against UL requirements and verifies measuring equipment.
• Reviews production, inspection, and shipping programs for UL compliance.
• Evaluates corrective actions where variations from UL requirements are noted.
• Coordinates with manufacturers and customers, AHJs for inspections.
• Provides information on UL policies and promotes services.
• Discusses procedures, test methods, results, and variations to resolve problems.
• Uses micrometers, voltmeters, ammeters; ensures calibration of equipment.
• Documents examination results and maintains inspection logs; performs calculations across engineering fields.
• Incorporates continuous improvement concepts across duties.
