Job description

Green Office Partner

Full-time

In-Office | Chicago, IL, United States

Position Overview

We are seeking an operational, detail-oriented mid-grade Field Engineer to manage on-site technical diagnostics, electromechanical maintenance, and digital workflow configurations for multi-function printer (MFD) fleets. Reporting directly to our regional branch office, you will operate across an assigned territory corridor in the greater Chicagoland area, serving as our core field touchpoint - resolving active equipment component failures, performing critical upkeep calibrations, and mapping devices safely onto customer networks. Your focus will center directly on maximizing territory First-Time Fix Rates (FTFR), executing daily branch-coordinated routing efficiencies, and providing unparalleled client satisfaction during on-site customer engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality technical break-fix resolution, mechanical adjustments, and electrical part replacements on office multi-function printer fleets, explicitly targeting the Xerox AltaLink and VersaLink equipment lines.

Diagnose and swap out core electro-photographic component lines: fuser assemblies, feed roller systems, registration clutches, transfer belts, developer housings, and paper-feed trays.

Integrate new and redeployed MFD systems seamlessly onto customer local area networks (LANs), configuring static IP tables, subnet masks, and network print queues.

Deploy and troubleshoot standard network scanning protocols: scan-to-folder via SMBv3, secure FTP (SFTP), scan-to-email paths (SMTP authentication), and standard user login security rules.

Report to the local branch office for inventory collections, master parts allocation, and routine service meetings as directed by field leadership.

Participate fully in peer-shadowing modules and safety reviews, collaborating with Senior Field Engineers during the initial 3-10 day supervised onboarding and training assessment window.

Required Qualifications & Experience

STRONGLY RECOMMENDED: Active Xerox ConnectKey Technology Certifications (AltaLink or VersaLink systems series) or formal dealer factory equivalent training.

A minimum of 2 to 5 years of proven hands‑on field technical service experience repairing multi-function office copiers, network printers, or related document solutions hardware.

Solid foundational mechanics: comfortable utilizing digital multimeters, reading exploded parts diagrams, and interpreting electrical schematics.

Competency in enterprise IT baselines: operating knowledge of print controllers, subnets, gateways, and web‑based device administration dashboards.

Strong organizational and daily scheduling skills, with a proven ability to manage regional commuting routes across Chicagoland suburbs and thoroughfares safely.

Valid driver’s license with a safe, compliant driving record eligible for commercial auto fleet underwriting.

First-Time Fix Rate (FTFR): Maintain a territory fix‑on‑first‑visit metric exceeding 80% through targeted troubleshooting and smart parts stocking.

Response Efficiency: Respond to local dispatch updates promptly, maintaining alignment with contract response windows (under 4 hours average).

Callback Minimization: Minimize equipment repeat calls by ensuring exhaustive mechanical testing prior to job‑ticket closure.

Inventory Integrity: Keep car-stock variance below 2% via rigorous logging of replacement components within our mobile field application.

Highly competitive base hourly wage/salary scale, with additional performance‑based efficiency bonus tracking.

Full corporate medical, dental, vision, and group wellness insurance programs.

401(k) company savings blueprint with a competitive employer matching incentive.

Accrued Paid Time Off (PTO) package and paid company holiday calendar.

Company‑supported training pathways to achieve advanced OEM certifications (including high-volume digital production systems).

Provisioned field workspace tools, including a corporate smartphone, laptop, professional diagnostic kits, and an assigned service van with integrated toll and fuel card access (contingent upon policy guidelines listed above).

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified candidates are evaluated without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability status, or protected veteran status.
