Job summary

Automated Logic, a Carrier Global Corporation business, is seeking a Field Engineer Intern in the United States to assist in startup, commissioning and calibration of building systems. You will help maintain drawings, support software commissioning, and set up operator workstations while contributing to project progress and documentation.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an engineering bachelor’s program with a 3.0+ GPA, able to travel 50%+, with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in any Engineering field.
• GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable.
• Willingness to travel more than 50% of typical work week, mostly local travel and seldom overnight hotel stay.
• Basic understanding of control logic.
• HVAC/building automation experience preferred.
• Capable of climbing ladders or lift equipment >8 feet and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with startup, commissioning, and re-commissioning of customer systems.
• Maintain accurate As‑Built drawings in Visio, Excel, Word.
• Assist during calibration with basic electronic test equipment.
• Assist in static and dynamic software commissioning of building systems.
• Set up operator workstations with required software.
• Perform daily job database backups and related documentation.
• Support turnover to service and track progress with lead project personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with startup, commission and re‑commission of customer systems that utilize pneumatic / electrical / electronic technology
• Assist with maintaining accurate As‑Built drawing package and making changes in Visio, Excel, Word, as required
• Assist during calibration of systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi‑meters, network terminals and/or a laptop computer
• Assist in static (stand‑alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) commissioning of software programming
• Assist in the set‑up of operator workstations with all associated software
• Responsible for performing job database backups daily or as advised
• Assist with turnover to service
• Track and record job progress and keep lead project personnel informed on progress
• Keep project management appraised of concerns and issues
• Complete paperwork on time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on‑site documentation and project status reports
• Communicate with lead project personnel upon arrival and before leaving the work site

Basic Qualifications

• Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in any Engineering field.
• Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
• Possess and maintain valid and current Driver’s License and be insurable by our company’s insurance carrier
• Willingness to travel more than 50% of typical work week, mostly local travel and seldom overnight hotel stay

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of control logic
• Knowledge in DDC control theory and applications pertaining to the HVAC/Control preferred
• Prior experience in HVAC and/or Building Automation preferred
• Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment more than 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $43,500.00 - $87,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.

Other Compensation

This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
