Job summary

Systems Technology Forum, Ltd. (STF) seeks a Field Engineer to support ESS and MNS projects as a technical teammate. You will ensure engineering accuracy across all phases and work closely with STF’s Engineering Department and the Operations Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute to project standards.

Travel is required. The role covers designing Mass Notification and Electronic Security solutions, CCTV and Access Control, reading design documents, applying cyber security, and

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of directly related field engineering support experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, computer science, or physical science (or 10 years related experience in lieu of BS).
  • Certifications in Mass Notification and Electronic Security Systems; CCNA/Network+ or equivalent are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Designs Mass Notification and Electronic Security Solutions for clients based on scope of work.
  • Read and interpret design documents (technical and architectural).
  • Coordinate with engineering and project management to plan and execute projects.
  • Present design concepts professionally to partners, vendors, and clients.

Job description

Job Summary

Acts as a technical teammate that is an essential part of every Electronic Security System (ESS) and Mass Notification System (MNS) project executed by the company. Ensures technical accuracy is applied to all phases of a project. Works closely with the company’s Engineering Department and the Operations Project Manager to ensure that all Engineering support is planned for, coordinated, and executed to the project standards.
Travel is required.

Responsibilities and Duties

Works with Mass Notifications (outdoor warning sirens, indoor public address systems) and Electronic Security Systems (CCTV Cameras, Access Control Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems). Understands low and high voltage systems (national codes, theory, safety, technology). Understands how to design new or upgrade systems to integrate in with existing systems infrastructure. Understands fire alarm systems. Understands how to read design documents (technical and architectural). Understands cyber security. Understands and executes systems programming for Mass Notifications and Electronic Security Systems. Understands general light construction (theory and process). Must be able to organize information in logical sequence and be able to present information in a clear, easy to understand way for all types of users (Government, Private, and Public). Works with Mass Notification Systems Responsibilities: Must be able to design a Mass Notification Systems solution for clients based on general scope of work provided. This may be a brand new system or an upgrade to the existing system. Electronic Security Systems Responsibilities: CCTV: Must understand and know how to design a general CCTV solution to include Video Management Software, Video Recording Devices, and Cameras of all types (fixed, PTZ, indoor, outdoor) Access Control Systems: Must understand and know how to design a general Access Control System utilizing the essential components of the ACS to include badge readers of all types, access control management software, and door access hardware. Intrusion Detection Systems: Must understand and know how to design a general Intrusion Detection Systems to include door and window alarms and management software. Project Specific Responsibilities: Must understand how to conduct a site survey based on project scope of work and company’s standard operating procedures for project site surveys. Must be able to utilize MS Projects and have the aptitude to learn MS Projects or other project management software as required by the company. Must be able to present design concepts in a professional manner to partners, vendors, and clients (in person, teleconference, and video conference). Must be able to manage a project in the absence of a Project Manager for a limited period of time. This requires conducting internal meetings, coordinating with clients and ensuring the vendors are on schedule. Administrative Specific Responsibilities: Must have strong writing and verbal communications skills. This means that the Field Engineer will be able to create professional documents, emails, and presentations as required. Must have a strong knowledge of database management and scheduling. Must have knowledge of Electronic Security Systems; Mass Notification Systems; Access Control Systems.

Qualifications and Skills
Required knowledge and years of experience

Must have at least three (3) years of directly related field engineering support experience is required.

Education Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Physical Science or related technical field or the equivalent experience is required (a minimum of 10 years of directly related experience is required in lieu of a BS degree).

Certifications

Certifications on various Mass Notification/Giant Giant Voice and Electronic Security Systems; Mass Notification Systems: SiRcom, Cooper WAVES, Federal Signal, ATI, Whelen, Genasys, etc.; Electronic Security Systems: AMAG, Lenel, Bosch, DMP, etc.; and Network+, CCNA, Juniper (or able to obtain upon hire)
