Job description

Field Engineer I - Savannah

As a Field Engineer I, you'll get hands-on with every phase of a construction project — supporting your Superintendent, coordinating with trade partners, and turning plans into daily progress on-site.

You'll build your foundation in quality, safety, and schedule management while learning directly from experienced builders — developing the skills that set up your next move toward Assistant Superintendent.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with field oversight throughout all phases of assigned construction projects, executing Samet TSWs as they relate to field management.

  • Monitor and document schedule progress on-site, relay subcontractor updates to the Superintendent, and recommend corrective actions to keep projects on track.

  • Assist with the execution and documentation of the Site-Specific Quality Plan and Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs.

  • Assist with the execution and documentation of the Site-Specific Safety Plan, promoting Samet's award-winning safety program and an injury-free job site.

  • Document site progress daily in Procore, including advances or regression in scheduled activities.

  • Apply working knowledge of construction techniques, materials, tools, and equipment; perform small carpentry and site tasks as needed (guard rails, temp doors, blocking, dewatering, material coordination).

  • Review the owner contract and trade partner scopes of work, contracts, and boilerplates.

  • Participate in project meetings — including MPRs, OACs, financial reviews, coordination meetings, morning huddles, pre-awards, pre-installation, Safe Start, and Quality Start — and contribute to the project PMP.

  • Identify the root cause of problems and propose solutions using facts, data, and past knowledge; stop any work that doesn't meet Quality Management Plan expectations.

  • Complete required Samet University coursework and use Builders Building Builders resources to grow your construction knowledge.

  • Conduct business professionally and ethically, working to minimize risk to Samet, project owners, and trade partners.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree.

  • OSHA 30 certification (required for all field associates).

  • Proficiency in Bluebeam and familiarity with other construction software tools.

  • Working knowledge of plans, specifications, and construction documentation processes.

  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, and punch lists (preferred).

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to carry out tasks with minimal direction.

  • Clear, confident verbal and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to safety.

  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and genuine interest in growing toward an Assistant Superintendent role.
