Job summary

Southland Holdings is seeking a Field Engineer for Lake Charles LA/Vinton LA/Beaumont TX Area with 1–3 years of heavy civil general contractor experience.

The role supports project teams with submittals, permits, bids, change orders, and construction administration. A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering is preferred, with strong communication and team skills.

Qualifications

• Construction/related degree with 1-3 years construction experience.
• Transportation experience is highly preferred.
• Ability to speak English and Spanish is a REQUIREMENT.
• Excellent computer skills and analytical ability.
• Experience working with Primavera P6, AutoCAD.
• Understanding of industrial construction process and ability to interpret contract drawings/specs.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
• Ability to understand construction logic and sequencing of complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals.
• Assist in management of project permit process.
• Assist in preparation of bid packages and procurement.
• Receive and review change orders.
• Assist senior civil engineers with entry level tasks.
• Assist with onsite construction administration and observation services.
• Evaluate change order requests and submittals.
• Review as-built drawings and ensure changes are recorded.
• Complete project close out requirements.
• Coordinate meeting agendas and follow up on actions.
• Maintain relationships with owners, architects, engineers and contractors.
