Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is seeking entry-level Field Engineers to learn under Project Managers and Superintendents, building industry knowledge and leadership skills. You will monitor sites, review drawings, and help ensure work aligns with specs while prioritizing safety and quality.

Travel and relocation are required, and you will gain hands-on experience across multiple projects as you contribute to bids, material takeoffs, and coordination with vendors and clients.

Qualifications

• Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Good computer skills; experience with Primavera and Expedition is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Project Management to meet job specifications.
• Review data to determine material type/size and prepare itemized lists.
• Purchase, expedite and receive permanent material to ensure proper quantity and quality.
• Perform material take offs and ensure timely procurement.
• Review inventory parts for correct specifications.
• Resolve problems with parts sent incorrectly or out of sequence.
• Analyze blueprints and specs to prepare for bids or installations.
• Compute cost factors and prepare estimates for planning and scheduling.
• Ensure assembly and installation meet specifications.
• Discuss estimates for change orders with clients/vendors to resolve issues.
• Generate on-site drawings for change orders or modifications.
• Other duties as assigned.
