Job Title: FIELD ENGINEER - Biogas and Engineering Operations

Location: Remote (with Travel)

Job Overview

The Field Engineer will collaborate with business development, engineering, project management, and construction teams to support biogas project construction and startup. Responsibilities include applying engineering principles to ensure project designs meet regulatory and quality standards, working independently, leading construction teams, and communicating effectively with partners, clients, and subcontractors.

This remote position requires frequent travel to active construction sites, with most of the work at project sites. The successful candidate reports to the Director of Projects.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Manage site construction activities to meet schedules, budgets, and safety standards.
  2. Supervise craft employees for optimal execution of work.
  3. Support the Construction Superintendent in work execution and resolve field issues.
  4. Engage with clients and apply technical knowledge to practical problems.
  5. Negotiate change orders with clients and subcontractors.
  6. Monitor and verify dimensions of subcontracted work; initiate RFIs to resolve discrepancies.
  7. Assist in preparing and updating project schedules with the Project Management team.
  8. Negotiate terms, draft contracts, and support permits and licenses acquisition.
  9. Coordinate compliance with wage and apprenticeship requirements under the Inflation Reduction Act.
  10. Ensure daily safety analyses are completed.
  11. Work with HSE staff to meet environmental and regulatory standards.
  12. Estimate costs and manage work within budget.
  13. Review and respond to contractor RFIs.
  14. Support Operations Division as needed.
  15. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Business Development, HR, and IT.
  16. Apply RACI principles for project accountability.
  17. Promote quality and accuracy in work.
  18. Respond to urgent issues outside normal hours as needed.
  19. This role involves 75% travel each month.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 8 years of industrial engineering and construction experience, including at least 2 years onsite management.
  2. Valid driver’s license for the residence state.
  3. Knowledge of hazard assessment and OSHA Part 1926 safety regulations.
  4. Proficiency with 3D Plant Model and ability to create onsite sketches.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

  1. Proficiency in MS Project, ProCor, or other project management software.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
