Job summary

Leidos is seeking a qualified Field Engineer to support the BNATCS initiative under the RSR Program Office for FAA. The role involves installation and disposition at busy airports nationwide, with 75% travel to project sites across the country.

You will serve as an RSR SME, collaborating with program office leads and contractors, and you will help plan site implementation and perform on-site coordination per the SOW.

Description

As one of Leidos’ oldest and largest programs supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the NAS Integration Support Contract (NISC) Program is seeking a qualified professional to support the FAA’s Brand‑New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) initiative—specifically the Radar Surveillance Replacement (RSR) Program Office (AJM‑41)—by serving as an RSR Field Engineer on the program office’s implementation and disposition teams. The selected candidate will support installation and disposition for the RSR PO at some of the nation’s busiest and most critical airports.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Represent the PO at RSR sites, executing to an aggressive multi‑site schedule.
  • Serve as an RSR subject matter expert (SME) to the RSR program office project, implementation, and engineering leads.
  • Participate in final planning and site preparation, including development of site implementation plans and site visits as required.
  • Provide onsite installation/construction consultation supporting implementation and disposition activities, including advising contractors on requirements based on design drawings and the statement of work (SOW).
Travel Expectations
  • Travel is expected to be high 75% of the time.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience, or additional years of relevant experience may be considered/accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with research, design, and development of electrical equipment and systems.
  • Ability to perform at a high level independently and as part of a small team, while meeting an aggressive installation schedule.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high‑quality maintenance practices during RSR implementation.
  • Professionalism representing Leidos to FAA customers, consistent with delivering “best of the best” support.
Preferred Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate is a prior FAA radar specialist (engineer, technician) with multi‑year responsibility for radar systems in the operational NAS.
  • Hands‑on field experience on one or more Radar systems in the active NAS.
  • Understanding of FAA operational risk management practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FAA construction/installation requirements at RSR sites.
Pay Range

Pay Range $69,550.00 - $125,725.00
