Job summary

PACK Power LLC is seeking a field construction professional to monitor substation construction activities, inspect work quality, and ensure alignment with design documents and safety standards. The role involves training craft staff, maintaining essential logs, and coordinating with client QA/QC teams on inspections and tests.

You will review submittals, manage field changes, perform basic surveying, and report daily progress to support ongoing project planning and future work.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience documenting field activities, progress and non-conformances.
  • Strong QA/QC mindset and attention to safety standards.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with subcontractors and client teams.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily substation construction activities and inspect workmanship.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and project procedures.
  • Review design documents and field reports; resolve non-conformances promptly.
  • Maintain logs for material tracking, testing/inspection, and non-conformances.
  • Coordinate submittals and ensure materials meet specs and schedules.
  • Collaborate with project managers on planning and risk management.

Position Scope

Position is responsible for monitoring multiple project activities, including inspections of major equipment received onsite, compliance with specifications, procedures, drawings, submittals and ensuring inspections and tests are qualified and complete.Employeemust develop a thorough understanding of the project scope and schedule as they relate to multiple specificassignment. Train and mentor craft level employees in their respective duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Location & Travel:

This role offers nationwide opportunities based on project needs, with project assignments typically lasting between 2 to 10 months. In addition to your base salary, you’ll receive a daily per diem to assist with living expenses while on assignment. This role includes regular rotational travel home from the job site. A monthly vehicle allowance and fuel card will also be provided.

Our Medium Voltage Division delivers comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solutions for renewable energy collection systems and medium voltage electrical infrastructure. Our expertise includes collection systems, medium voltage distribution, and substations that efficiently connect renewable generation assets to the electrical grid.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Oversee daily substation construction activities, inspecting work quality including excavation, concrete, rebar, grounding, steel, wiring, and electrical checks.
  • Verify construction aligns with design documents; review inspection reports and resolve non‑conformances.
  • Maintain key logs: material tracking, testing/inspection, concrete, and non‑conformance.
  • Manage submittals, ensuring materials match approved specs and project schedules.
  • Perform basic surveying and verify line, grade, and dimensions.
  • Record and report daily progress, identifying and addressing deficiencies promptly.
  • Document approved field changes andmaintainred‑line drawings.
  • Coordinate closely with client quality staff to meet QA/QC standards.
  • Compile operations and maintenance manuals with key contacts and warranties.
  • Support punch list inspections and determine calibration status of testing equipment.
  • Collaborate with project managers and estimators on project support and future planning.
Education and Work ExperienceRequirements:
  • Associates orBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or related degree preferred
  • Experience in related construction field is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Take reasonable care ofyour ownand others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility.
  • Must be a self‑starter, hard‑working, inquisitive, and be organized and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Read, analyze and interpret blueprints, technical procedures and safety rules.
  • Write daily reports and document project activities.
  • Effectively manage field data to assure activities are conforming to corporate Quality Control procedures. Ensures the effective implementation of the quality control program for assigned projecttask.
  • Calculate figures and amounts and able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
