Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Field Engineer supports project operations, assisting the Construction Manager and Superintendent with short‑term schedules, shop drawings, submittals, subcontractor and material scheduling, coordination meetings, as‑built drawings, job costing, procurement, and field operations.
- Generate and maintain concrete placement schedules and three‑week look‑ahead schedules
- Conduct planning meetings with project production staff to inform schedule products
- Track and assemble requirements for daily reporting through quality control personnel
- Track and report schedule progress in the USACE Resident Management Software (RMS)
- Track and report production quantities as provided by production supervisors
- Document change order work to ensure accurate details are captured to support costs submitted to owner
- Participate in relevant daily huddles to ensure the project is expeditiously and profitably constructed
- Establish excellent working and professional relationships with clients and their representatives and/or field inspectors
- Assist the buyout process, write requisitions, and communicate all required information to the Project Team
- Attend applicable subcontractor coordination meetings to provide updates on schedules, drawings, and specifications
- Comply with safety procedures/policies, address and/or elevate non‑compliance among all employees, subcontractors, and vendors
- Participate in the daily Task Safety Awareness and weekly Safety Meetings
- Conduct work with 100% integrity and professionalism
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- Ability to prepare reports in Excel and Word
- Experience with P6 scheduling software, USACE RMS, and Bluebeam
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, subcontractors, and ICs, and demonstrate initiative, organization, and planning skills
- Ability to review and understand plan specifications and drawings
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in a field environment
- Proficiency in written and verbal business communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone
