Job summary

CloudCover is seeking a hands-on Field Engineer to support IT hardware installations, low-voltage cabling, and repair tasks at customer sites across the Las Vegas area. You will install, troubleshoot, and service varied commercial technology equipment, documenting work and ensuring quality resolutions.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in IT/field service, strong communication, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Arrive at customer sites on time and follow project requirements.

• Document work performed, issues identified, parts used, and final resolution.
• Communicate with the Project Manager and escalate issues as needed.
• Maintain professional appearance and represent CloudCover positively at sites.

About the Role

CloudCover is seeking reliable and technically skilled Field Engineers to support IT, low-voltage, hardware installation and repair, and commercial technology projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technician who enjoys working in the field, solving technical problems, and working independently. Field Engineers will visit customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair, replace, and support a variety of commercial technology equipment.

Projects may include technology installations, equipment swaps, digital displays, kiosks, network equipment, low-voltage cabling, system installations, site surveys, and hardware repair. Equipment may include laptops, desktops, printers, servers, storage systems, network devices, digital signage, kiosks, and other commercial technology hardware.

What You'll Do

• Arrive at customer sites on time and follow all site and project requirements.
• Follow detailed scopes of work, installation instructions, and project documentation.
• Install, troubleshoot, service, and repair commercial technology systems.
• Perform hardware diagnostics, equipment swaps, component replacements, and break/fix repairs.
• Replace field-replaceable components such as system boards, drives, memory, power supplies, networking equipment, peripherals, cameras, and other equipment as required.
• Support IT, network, server, storage, printer, kiosk, digital signage, and related technology systems.
• Configure or validate remote access following hardware repairs when required.
• Take clear before, during, and after photos of completed work.
• Document work performed, issues identified, parts used, and final resolution.
• Communicate regularly with the Project Manager and promptly escape access issues, missing materials, damage, or scope concerns.
• Complete required check-in, check-out, and project closeout documentation.
• Maintain a professional appearance and represent CloudCover positively at customer locations.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Previous experience in IT, low-voltage, cabling, field service, hardware repair, or commercial technology.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to respond promptly during active assignments.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and complete detailed documentation.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable using basic hand tools and power tools.
• Comfortable working on ladders or step stools when required.
• Ability to take clear site photos using a smartphone.
• Professional, dependable, and able to work with limited direct supervision.
• Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
• Must be able to pass a Nevada full background and clearance check.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in IT, low-voltage, cabling, hardware repair, or field service.
• Experience working with printers, servers, storage systems, network-connected devices, and commercial technology.
• Experience replacing system boards, drives, memory, power supplies, peripherals, and other internal components.
• Experience configuring or validating remote access following hardware repairs.
• Experience with digital signage, kiosks, commercial displays, and network devices.
• Ability to read floor plans, diagrams, scopes of work, installation instructions, and repair documentation.
• Basic networking knowledge, including Ethernet connections, switches, media players, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Experience working in retail, data center, office, mall, or other commercial environments.

Travel & Schedule

This position requires flexibility based on customer and project needs. Work may include:

• Weekday projects
• Evening or occasional after-hours assignments
• Short-notice assignments when available
• Multi-day projects
• Local travel of approximately 75 miles from the assigned market
• Extended travel outside the local market
• Assignments requiring 3–4 days away from home

Flexibility is important, as project schedules are based on customer requirements and business needs.
