Job summary

Boingo Wireless, Inc. is seeking a DAS Field Engineer to own a set of DAS networks across venues, ensuring systems run smoothly and partners are satisfied. You will lead field deployments, perform health checks, and coordinate with service providers to optimize performance.

Qualifications

• Familiar with DAS OEMs and performance benchmarks.
• Experience managing subcontractors remotely.
• Ability to read RF schematics and construction drawings.
• Proficient in updating reports and trouble tickets.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement for venues, ensuring cost efficiency and budget adherence for hardware and subcontractor labor.
• Optimize network performance with system integrators and deployment teams during commissioning and integration.
• Review system integrator reports for KPI compliance.
• Analyze system health data and conduct quality control checks.
• Perform routine health checks and preventative maintenance.
• Generate internal and external performance reports for stakeholders.
• Conduct system testing including RF sweep, fiber testing, PIM, and handset testing.
• Remotely monitor venues, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate subcontractor dispatch.
• Build relationships with service providers to enhance system performance through data analysis.
• Perform RF site surveys and create as-builts for venues.
• Execute DAS, Small Cell, and Wi-Fi installations with rack stacking and cabling.
• Work with hand/tools, RF test equipment, and safety standards compliance.

DAS Field Engineer

As the leader of your venue networks, you'll need to be highly energetic and customer-focused, with in-depth knowledge of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) networks. You'll maintain and enhance system performance, while collaborating with a tight-knit team to tackle complex technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage procurement for your venues, ensuring cost efficiency and budget adherence for hardware and subcontractor labor.
• Optimize network performance by collaborating with system integrators and the operations deployment team during commissioning and integration.
• Review and approve system integrator reports, ensuring compliance with carrier KPIs.
• Analyze system health data, including Layer 3 messaging KPIs and carrier RAN metrics, and conduct quality control checks.
• Perform routine health checks, preventative maintenance, and ensure system performance aligns with original turn-up standards.
• Generate internal and external performance reports for stakeholders.
• Conduct system testing, including RF sweep, fiber testing, PIM, and carrier handset testing.
• Remotely monitor venues, troubleshooting issues, and coordinate subcontractor dispatch when necessary.
• Build relationships with service providers to enhance system performance through data analysis.
• Perform benchmark testing, RF site surveys, and create as-builts for new and existing venues.
• Execute system modifications and additions, including DAS, Small Cell, and Wi‑Fi equipment installations, rack stacking, and cable routing.
• Work with hand and power tools, coaxial PPC compression tools, Cat5/6 terminations, and RF test equipment.
• Maintain strong technical knowledge of wireless network products and ensure compliance with safety, business conduct, and quality assurance standards.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience as a DAS or Cellular Field Engineer.
• Familiarity with DAS OEMs (e.g., CommScope, JMA, Corning Mobile Access, SOLiD) and their performance benchmarks.
• Experience managing subcontractors remotely across large regions.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, RF schematics (iBwave /Ekahau), and blueprints.
• Proficiency in updating reports and trouble tickets.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., work outdoors, on ladders, and in confined spaces.
• Experience with electrical wiring, ESD products, and working in construction or installation environments with minimal supervision.
• Certifications in test equipment (e.g., Anritsu Sweep Master) and connector coring / compression techniques.
• Basic LAN Layer 1 & 2 troubleshooting, including Cisco CLI knowledge.
• Formal training or equivalent hands‑on experience in basic installation procedures.
• Willingness to travel within the tri-state region for up to a week and occasionally work shifts outside regular hours.
