Job summary

Job Juncture is seeking an experienced Field Engineer for a large-scale heavy civil project in California. You will support field operations, planning, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and technical execution on a multi-billion-dollar transportation project.

Join a team working with Project Managers, Superintendents, and design teams to ensure delivery, safety, and quality. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a BS in civil engineering or related field

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with cost tracking, estimating, forecasting, and contracts.
  • Knowledge of CPM scheduling and resource planning preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Primavera P6 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review plans and develop construction schedules aligned with project milestones.
  • Coordinate subcontractors for procurement, preconstruction deliverables, and readiness activities.
  • Assist with bid packages, quotes, and contract preparation.
  • Prepare work plans, construction packages, and lead preconstruction coordination meetings.
  • Update and distribute work schedules; coordinate notifications with internal teams and agencies.
  • Monitor daily field activities and verify work complies with plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate with design teams to resolve technical issues and field changes.
  • Support subcontract administration including RFIs, submittals, and performance tracking.
  • Assist with monthly progress billing, reporting, forecasting, and issue resolution.
  • Participate in change orders and claims documentation.

About the Project

Join one of California’s largest infrastructure projects currently under construction in the Central Valley. This multi-billion-dollar transportation project includes a 32-mile alignment with complex civil scopes such as bridges, viaducts, tunnel work, utility relocations, trench sections, railroad coordination, roadway improvements, and major river crossings.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer to support field operations, planning, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and technical execution on a large-scale heavy civil project. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, consultants, and field teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review plans, specifications, and develop construction schedules aligned with project milestones
  • Coordinate subcontractors for procurement, preconstruction deliverables, and readiness activities
  • Assist with bid packages, quote collection, and contract preparation
  • Prepare work plans, construction packages, and lead preconstruction coordination meetings
  • Update and distribute work schedules while coordinating notifications with internal teams and agencies
  • Monitor daily field activities and verify work complies with plans and specifications
  • Coordinate with design teams to resolve technical issues and field changes
  • Support subcontract administration including RFIs, submittals, correspondence, and performance tracking
  • Assist with monthly progress billing, reporting, forecasting, and issue resolution
  • Participate in change orders and claims documentation
  • Maintain strong working relationships with owners, subcontractors, consultants, and field personnel
  • Enforce jobsite safety standards, cleanliness, and productivity expectations
  • Identify changing site conditions and help develop solutions proactively
  • Support permits, crossing applications, inspections, quality checks, and closeout documentation
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience
  • Strong understanding of construction safety and OSHA regulations
  • Experience with cost tracking, estimating, forecasting, and contracts
  • Knowledge of CPM scheduling and resource planning preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Primavera P6 experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to identify discrepancies early
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic and ability to work independently or within a team

  • Public works or design-build project experience
