Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to join the Water/Wastewater Division in the Florence, SC area. You will support the Project Superintendent and Craft Foreman by completing field tasks and contributing to successful project delivery.

Responsibilities include assisting with structure layout, field procurements, drafting and reviewing shop drawings, maintaining logs, RFIs, and schedules, plus supporting purchasing and meeting minutes.

Qualifications

• Surveying and layout experience required.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.

• Prepare and maintain project logs and schedules.
• Identify need for RFIs.
• Review and process shop drawings; maintain as-built drawings.
• Assist with purchasing and expediting.
• Attend meetings and record minutes.

• Engineering duties as assigned for assistance in planning construction.
• Maintain and update project logs and schedules.
• Identify need for Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Prepare, review and process shop drawings.
• Maintain as-built drawings.
• Collect and assemble O&M material.
• Perform subcontract scope analysis.
• Assist with purchasing and expediting.
• Meeting minutes and distribution.
• Scheduling.

Requirements:

• Surveying/layout, technical writing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree.
