Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. seeks an experienced Project Engineer for its Water/Wastewater Division in Arcadia, FL. You will collaborate with estimating, administration, and the Project Manager to complete assigned tasks and ensure project success.

Responsibilities include maintaining logs and schedules, handling RFIs, coordinating submittals, site visits, and safety documentation, and coordinating subcontractors to ensure conformance to plans.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years Engineering Degree is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain project logs (e.g., storage logs, concrete pour log, RFI log).
• Maintain and update schedules (e.g., valve schedule, project schedule).
• Identify need for RFIs and coordinate responses.
• Create production plans and coordinate startup activities.
• Prepare, review and process submittals and shop drawings.
• Maintain as-built drawings and collect/assemble O&M material.
• Support material purchasing, expediting and tracking.
• Assist with value engineering design and proposals.
• Distribute contract documents to jobsite, vendors and subcontractors; coordinate subcontractors.
• Visit project sites to monitor progress against plans and standards.
• Develop meeting agendas and minutes; ensure safety documentation.

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer to work in the Water/Wastewater Division in Arcadia, FL. The successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of specific project tasks as assigned by the Project Manager. In this position, the candidate will interface with the estimating division (Project Engineers will gain/enhance experience in estimating), Project Assistant (administrative functions are required to complete many assigned tasks) and the Project Superintendent as well as the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

• Maintain project logs (i.e. storage logs, concrete pour log, RFI log)
• Maintain and update schedules (i.e. valve schedule, project schedule)
• Identify need for Requests for Information (RFIs)
• Create production plans
• Coordinate facility startup activities and production planning
• Prepare, review and process submittals and shop drawings
• Maintain as-built drawings
• Collect and assemble O&M material
• Purchase Order and Subcontract Scope analysis and drafting
• Material purchasing, expediting, and tracking
• Value engineering design and proposals
• Contract document distribution to jobsite, vendors, subcontractors
• Coordinate subcontractors
• Visits project sites to monitor progress conformance to plans and standards
• Development and distribution of meeting agendas and meeting minutes
• Collecting and enforcement of safety programs and other safety documentation

Technical Skills

• Excellent math skills, scheduling, knowledge of surveying fundamentals, and adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office Products

Qualifications

• Four (4) years Engineering Degree
