If you are a seasoned GIS specialist with strong field leadership, technical drawing expertise, and a zero-compromise approach to safety and quality, this role was designed for you. If required, the GIS Field Engineer / Supervisor may be called upon to assist the AIS Team.

  • Serve as the primary GE Vernova representative and customer interface on site
  • Lead daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and Job Safety Analyses (JSA/AHA)
  • Manage site interfaces with clients, contractors, commissioning teams, and project managers
  • Monitor installation progress and deliver accurate daily, weekly, and final site reports
  • Support commissioning, high-voltage testing, and punch list closure through to formal client handover
Engineering Review, Drawing Conversion & Technical Documentation
  • Review, adapt, and draft engineering documents including GA drawings, control schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnection drawings, terminal diagrams, mounting details, and Bills of Materials
  • Review converted European-standard mechanical support structure and breaker control drawings into North American-compliant packages aligned with IEEE, ANSI, CSA, NEC/NFPA, and local utility requirements – if required amend.
  • Identify technical gaps between European and North American design practices and recommend compliant engineering solutions
  • Write and adapt Method Statements for specific job types (new installation, maintenance, repair, Hi-Pot tests) based on existing generic procedures
  • Prepare engineering documentation suitable for review and stamping by a licensed Professional Engineer (PE/P.Eng.) where required
  • Ensure all engineering changes are documented, traceable, and compliant with client and statutory requirements
Quality, EHS & Regulatory Compliance
  • Enforce strict compliance with GE Vernova EHS policies, OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910 & 1926), NFPA 70E arc flash requirements, and LOTO procedures

Procurement & Sourcing Technical Support
  • Prepare clear technical specifications and drawing packages to support North American component sourcing and procurement
  • Define and validate component substitutions where European parts are unavailable or non-compliant in North America
  • Support material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor clarification processes
  • Coordinate with suppliers to confirm fit, function, certification, and compliance of selected materials
Coaching & Team Development
  • Mentor and develop junior field engineers, supervisors, and technicians & provide customer training
  • Share field expertise, technical knowledge, and best practices across the team
Technical Expertise
  • Proven hands-on expertise in GIS substation installation, assembly, maintenance, repair, and retrofit (69 kV – 800 kV)
  • Ability to read, interpret, mark up, and revise mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, control drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation procedures
  • Working knowledge of Local Control Cubicles (LCC) and secondary/control systems
  • Ability to convert engineering documentation from European to North American standards
  • Knowledge of high-voltage substation breaker control philosophy and mechanical support design
  • Experience with procurement documentation: BOMs, technical specifications, and approved vendor lists
  • Strong understanding of quality, testing, and turnover documentation requirements
