Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Field Electronics Technician Level II in our Specialty Welding & Machining division. You will focus on electronic systems troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair for high-technology field equipment, with emphasis on component- and circuit-board-level work.

The role involves completing authored work plans, supporting field electrical services at customer sites, and frequent travel (up to 50%) from Manning, South Carolina.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years documented electronic experience in field construction.
  • Experience with repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of portable electrical, welding, or machining equipment required.
  • Education and certifications may be substituted for experience.
  • Be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Be able to work in confined areas at different elevations.
  • Be able to exercise repetitive motions and long periods of standing, bending and twisting.
  • Be able use ladders, manways, and scaffolding to access certain work areas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform component-level troubleshooting and repair on electronic systems.
  • Conduct circuit board diagnostics and repair.
  • Use electronic test and diagnostic equipment, such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators.
  • Analyze electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve faults in power supplies and distribution systems, control systems and instrumentation, and embedded and automated electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and calibrate welding power supply systems and EDM machining equipment.
  • Refurbish and maintain electro‑mechanical systems.
  • Support and accomplish E‑Tech-specific work scopes, with increasing independence.
  • Support field activities through planning and coordination of assigned tasks.
  • Communicate technical and resource needs.
  • Provide clear status updates to leadership and customers.
  • Work with field teams, management, and customers to support successful execution.

About The Role

As a Field Electronics Technician Level II with in our Specialty Welding & Machining division, you will focus on electronic systems troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair to support high‑technology field equipment. This role emphasizes component‑level and circuit board‑level expertise, with additional responsibility for supporting electro‑mechanical systems in remote field environments.

You will help complete authored work plans and contribute to field electrical services at customer sites, upholding SW&M's commitment to the highest standards of safety, quality, and technical excellence.

You will report to the Nuclear Field Services Resource Manager and be located at Manning, South Carolina with up to 50% travel time to support customer projects.

Key Responsibilities
Electronics-Focused Responsibilities
  • Perform component-level troubleshooting and repair on electronic systems
  • Conduct circuit board (PCB) diagnostics and repair
  • Use electronic test and diagnostic equipment, such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators
  • Analyze electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and drawings.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $56,156.88 to $66,366.56 per year.
