Job Description

USi’s business (www.usi-power.com) is focused on products, specialized equipment, and services that sustain and improve the reliability and availability of High Voltage Underground Electric Power Transmission Cable Systems. A sector of this business is the design, manufacture, installation, and maintenance of sophisticated monitoring systems, hydraulic pressurization, and cooling equipment that supports these underground transmission cable systems for large electric utilities across the USA.

We are seeking a traveling electro-mechanical technician to become an integral part of our technical team. This individual must be a self‐motivated problem solver able to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a highly skilled engineering team.

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, be willing to travel (50%), and be willing to work with high voltage equipment. Supervision will be provided by experienced engineers and project managers. Preferably, the individual should have an associate degree in engineering technology and 3 years of experience. Alternatively, individuals with electro-mechanical trade skills and 5 years of comparable work experience will be considered.

In this position, the employee will be required to:

  • Communicate effectively at various levels of our organization and be able to independently coordinate with the work of others internally and externally. Some client contact may be required.

  • Understand the concepts and objectives of our overall program and, with guidance from more experienced colleagues, set up various electromechanical tests and carry out experiments with minimum guidance.

  • Understand basic electronic, electrical, and mechanical test equipment and be able to program transducers, data collection equipment, and associated software.

  • Have the computer skills necessary to present data and prepare reports and the discipline to do this in a timely manner. Essential tools include word processing and spreadsheets. A working knowledge of AutoCAD would be a plus.

  • Have the willingness to perform whatever work is required to complete the assigned tasks. This includes, but is not limited to, working with hand and power tools to build electro-mechanical assemblies and test fixtures, as well as electrically wiring and operating various equipment, including High Voltage Test Equipment.

If you are looking for a challenging, rewarding, and satisfying work experience that will stretch your knowledge and growth as an individual, USi would like to meet you to discuss possibilities. USi is an employee-owned company.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity. All employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit, and business need.
