Job summary

Wood in Midland, TX is seeking a Field E&I Designer to support brownfield retrofits and debottlenecking projects in the Electrical & Instrumentation discipline. The role emphasizes field experience and on-site collaboration with multidisciplinary teams on Oil, Gas & New Energies projects.

Responsibilities include producing facility designs and layouts, CAD modeling with BOMs, and ensuring compliance with NEC, IEC, and industry standards. Occasional travel and no sponsorship required.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of related engineering design experience in electrical and instrumentation design.
• Typically, 5+ years of relevant design experience in oil and gas, industrial construction, or power generation industries.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required with this position.

Responsibilities

• Produce facility designs and layouts with knowledge of structural, mechanical, controls, and electrical equipment systems.
• Understand codes applicable to equipment and construction (NEC, IEC, ASME, AISC, AWS, OSHA, NFPA, local codes, MCBU standards, and Chevron Engineering Standards).
• Perform design tasks for purchasing and construction level drawings with limited supervision.
• Create reliable CAD models with precision, including assemblies, exploded view diagrams, and layouts with BOMs.
• Develop and improve department practices/standards.
• Review scope documents and specifications to ensure design meets SOW expectations and company requirements.
