Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking an Assistant or Associate Project Archaeologist - Field Director to join our Southern California Cultural Resource Program. You will supervise crews, manage fieldwork, and support office tasks including reports for renewable energy and development projects.

The role offers field-based work across Southern California with potential travel, a Pasadena or Riverside base, and a path to career growth within SWCA's expanding cultural resources practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field.
• Two years of cultural resources field activities experience; three years preferred.
• Experience leading archaeology crews and managing projects across regions and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist projects with responsibility for technical approach and QA/QC.
• Develop deliverables for complex projects under senior PM guidance.
• Foster collaboration and effective information sharing within the team.
