Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic (Field Service Tech II) to perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment in a safe and professional manner.

As a member of our Service Department, you will travel to customer sites, train lower level technicians, and maintain detailed work orders. The role emphasizes customer service, teamwork, and strong mechanical aptitude while offering career growth opportunities within a leading equipment rental provider.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• 1–2 years of experience repairing/maintaining vehicles and equipment; or trade school graduate.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of engines.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
• Assist in training of lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) daily.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.
• Other duties assigned as needed.
