Job summary

United Rentals is hiring a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service) to maintain and repair complex rental equipment safely and professionally. You will travel to customer sites, document work, train junior techs, and support service operations in our Service Department.

The role emphasizes hands-on mechanical work, customer service, and teamwork with growth toward leadership positions. A valid license and tool ownership are required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment.
• Owns tools applicable to position.
• Strong mechanical background and knowledge of engines.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.
• Other duties assigned as needed.
