Job summary

United Rentals is hiring a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service) to perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment with a strong emphasis on safety and customer service. You will travel to customer sites to service equipment and may train junior technicians while maintaining accurate service records.

The role requires a high mechanical aptitude, tools of your own, and the ability to lift up to 45 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• 3–5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; maintain service vehicle.
• Assist in training of lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) daily.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.
• Other duties as assigned.
