Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic – Customer Equipment Solutions (Service Tech IV - Field Service - CES) to maintain and repair complex equipment on customer-owned gear with minimal supervision. You will perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel work, travel to job sites, and train junior technicians as needed.

The role emphasizes safe, professional service, customer interaction, and the ability to upsell equipment solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Knowledge of construction equipment and strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
• Advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools with minimal supervision.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of customer owned equipment; maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner daily.
• Upsell and demonstrate a wide array of complex equipment for customers.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.
• Other duties assigned as needed.
