Job summary

United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental provider, is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service) to maintain and repair complex rental equipment across customer sites. You will diagnose issues, perform safe repairs, and ensure equipment is compliant with safety standards.

The role requires 3-5 years of repair experience, valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 45 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must have strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with detailed documentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with customers and team members.
• Solid understanding of engine systems and mechanical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, diesel).
• Travel to customer job sites to service equipment; maintain a clean, professional service vehicle.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed; document work orders and service details.
