Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic – Customer Equipment Solutions to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment at customer sites with minimal supervision. The role emphasizes safety, quality service, and independent problem solving.

You will work on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems across a variety of rental and customer equipment, with opportunities for training and advancement within the Service Department.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Knowledge of construction equipment and strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
• Advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on customer-owned equipment and tools.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance; keep a professional vehicle.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders).
• Upsell and demonstrate a wide array of complex equipment for customers.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.
• Other duties as needed.
