Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic - Customer Equipment Solutions to perform maintenance and repairs of complex equipment on customer-owned equipment with limited supervision, in a safe, professional manner.

You will travel to customer sites for repairs, train junior technicians, document all work orders, and assist with equipment pickup/delivery while delivering exceptional customer service. Strong mechanical skills and ability to lift up to 45 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Knowledge of construction equipment and engines; schematics/diagrams.
• Must own tools applicable to position; strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance; maintain service vehicle cleanliness.
• Assist in training of lower level technicians.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic work orders daily.
• Upsell and demonstrate a wide array of equipment for customers.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.

As a Field Diesel Mechanic - Customer Equipment Solutions (Service Tech IV - Field Service - CES), you'll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs of complex equipment on customer owned equipment with limited or no supervision in a highly skilled, safe, and professional manner. What you'll do:

• Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• Upsell and demonstrate a wide array of complex equipment for customers
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
• Knowledge of construction equipment and strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines
• Advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams
• Must own tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
