Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic – Customer Equipment Solutions (Service Tech III - Field Service - CES) to maintain and repair complex equipment on customer-owned assets with limited supervision. You will support a high standard of safety and professional service while working at customer sites across our service territory.

In this role, you will travel to customer locations, perform diagnostics, repair engines and hydraulic systems, and maintain thorough equipment

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Superior customer service and teamwork.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must own tools applicable to position.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs of complex equipment on customer owned equipment with minimal supervision.
• Maintain accurate work orders and documentation daily.
• Upsell and demonstrate a wide array of equipment to customers.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance; keep service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist with pickup/delivery of equipment and parts.

What You'll Do

• Safe maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• Upsell and demonstrate a wide array of complex equipment for customers
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• 3-5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
• Knowledge of construction equipment and strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines
• Must own tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
