Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic – Customer Equipment Solutions (Service Tech IV) to maintain and repair complex equipment on customer-owned assets with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver''s license with clean record.
• 5+ years’ experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of engines and systems.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain complex diesel, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems on rental and customer equipment.
• Travel to customer sites; keep service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist in training lower level technicians when needed.
• Document work orders accurately and promptly.
• Upsell and demonstrate equipment capabilities to customers.
• Assist with equipment and parts pickup/delivery.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

As a Field Diesel Mechanic – Customer Equipment Solutions (Service Tech IV - Field Service - CES), you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs of complex equipment on customer owned equipment with limited or no supervision in a highly skilled, safe, and professional manner. What you'll do

• Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• Upsell and demonstrate a wide array of complex equipment for customers
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
• Knowledge of construction equipment and strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines
• Advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams
• Must own tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
• This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals' policies and procedures.
