Job description

Job Title: Field Density Technician

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Field Density Technician to work at our Ace- Saginaw location in Ubly. The technician tests materials and assists in maintaining or modifying asphalt compression to meet customer demands, utilizing moderately complex testing methods and equipment.

This entry-level position is ideal for individuals new to the workforce or considering a career change, especially if you enjoy working outdoors and getting your hands dirty. No prior experience is required as on-the-job training will be provided.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with the initial setup of large asphalt compactors, make necessary adjustments, and monitor density during paving operations using Pavement Quality Indicators.
• Administer core sampling processes and collect samples.
• Test in-place density on asphalt pavement and take hot mix samples from behind a paver.
• Perform manual tasks as assigned by supervisors and other construction-related duties as needed.

Certification Opportunities

After completing training, employees may attend Ferris Construction Institute to obtain certifications in:

• Density Certification
• Aggregate Certification
• Loose HMA Sample Certification

Work Details

Shift: Day shift with weekend availability

Pay: $20 per hour

Skills and Qualifications

• Basic computer and math skills
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
• Tolerance to noise and temperature variations
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders, scaffolding, and stockpiles
