Osmose Utilities Services invites applications for Field Data Technician roles in the Minnesota area. This outdoor position involves collecting detailed field data on electric utility and telecom facilities, hiking between spans, and documenting information for outside plant engineering.

This role requires routine overnight travel, potential longer assignments, and travel back home on weekends. Training provided; candidates should be comfortable with technology and physical work.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
Knowledge of pole design including safety standards and practices is a plus.
Enjoy outdoors in all weather and capable of lifting 15–20 lbs regularly.
Basic computer skills including reading GPS maps.
Follow process specifications in a high-quality, fast-paced environment.
Willing to travel and work in variable terrain and weather.
Reliable transportation and strong communication skills.

Minimum 1 year outdoor work-related experience.

Responsibilities

Field Data Technicians in Minnesota area!

Field Data Technicians will start at $24.50/hour plus opportunity for hourly bonus with weekly pay! Plus hotel expenses, contract specific pay increase, living allowance and $4-$5/hour untaxed reimbursement for vehicle usage.

Summary of Position

An Osmose Field Technician is responsible for collecting detailed technical information about electric utility and telecommunication facilities and equipment. It is an outdoor position that requires hiking between spans of utility poles to capture data that supports outside plant engineering and various fiber‑optic construction projects. Osmose will train the ideal candidate to perform all required duties. This position requires routine overnight travel typically 1-2 weeks at a time away from home. Home most weekends with occasional out of state assignments which may involve longer stays of up to a month at a time if needed.

Responsibilities

Work in an outdoor environment to collect field data that supports the engineering and design of fiber optic cable facilities. This will include measurements of attachment heights, span distances, angles, etc...
Submit organized, detailed data for each project that could include maps, field notes and digital images.
Operate and maintain equipment that would include tablet computer, digital camera, measuring tools and Personal Protective Equipment.
Work professionally in the field as a representative of Osmose and our customers.
Communicate effectively and on a daily basis with the project management team.
Work safely and independent of supervision.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plus.
Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather and have the desire to actively participate in physically demanding work lifting 15 to 20 lbs. on a regular basis.
Basic proficiency with computers including the ability to read, interpret and follow GPS maps.
Ability to follow process specifications and guidelines in an extremely high-quality, high paced environment.
Ability to travel and work outside in variable terrain and weather conditions.
Must have reliable transportation.
Excellent communication skills; both written and oral.
