Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. is seeking Field Data Technicians to work in outdoor environments collecting data for fiber optic and electrical facilities. This role requires routine overnight travel, typically 1–2 weeks away from home, with home on weekends and occasional longer assignments.

Starting pay is $24.50/hour with weekly pay, plus eligible bonuses, hotel expenses, living allowance, and untaxed vehicle reimbursements. Training will be provided to perform all required duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
• Willingness to travel overnight 1–2 weeks away from home and on occasion longer.
• Ability to lift 15–20 lbs regularly and work in varying weather.
• Basic proficiency with GPS maps reading and data collection.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect field data in outdoor environments to support fiber optic facility design.
• Submit organized data including maps, field notes, and images.
• Operate and maintain field equipment (tablet, camera, measuring tools, PPE).
• Represent Osmose professionally in the field and coordinate with project management.
• Travel to multiple work locations and maintain safety standards in all tasks.
• Collaborate with team to ensure high-quality data and timely reporting.

We are currently seeking candidates for Field Data Technicians in California area!

Field Data Technicians will start at $24.50/hour plus opportunity for hourly bonus with weekly pay! Plus hotel expenses, contract specific pay increase, living allowance and $4-$5/hour untaxed reimbursement for vehicle usage.

Summary of Position

An Osmose Field Technician is responsible for collecting detailed technical information about electric utility and telecommunication facilities and equipment. It is an outdoor position that requires hiking between spans of utility poles to capture data that supports outside plant engineering and various fiber-optic construction projects. Osmose will train the ideal candidate to perform all required duties. This position requires routine overnight travel typically 1-2 weeks at a time away from home. Home most weekends with occasional out of state assignments which may involve longer stays of up to a month at a time if needed.

Responsibilities

• Work in an outdoor environment to collect field data that supports the engineering and design of fiber optic cable facilities. This will include measurements of attachment heights, span distances, angles, etc...
• Submit organized, detailed data for each project that could include maps, field notes and digital images.
• Operate and maintain equipment that would include tablet computer, digital camera, measuring tools and Personal Protective Equipment.
• Work professionally in the field as a representative of Osmose and our customers.
• Communicate effectively and on a daily basis with the project management team.
• Work safely and independent of supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plus.
• Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather and have the desire to actively participate in physically demanding work lifting 15 to 20 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Basic proficiency with computers including the ability to read, interpret and follow GPS maps.
• Ability to follow process specifications and guidelines in an extremely high-quality, high paced environment.
• Ability to travel and work outside in variable terrain and weather conditions.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Excellent communication skills; both written and oral.

• Demonstrate high work standards and attention to detail with a quality orientation.

• Minimum 1 year of outdoor work-related experience
• Minimum 1 year working in a role that required following a safety program or safety protocols (must provide details)
• Minimum 6 months experience working in a quality-controlled environment (must provide details)
• Minimum 6 months experience traveling to various work locations to include occasional overnight stays
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
