Job summary

The State of Washington, Department of Ecology, is hiring a WCC Crew Supervisor 1 for the Central Puget Sound region (King and Snohomish counties). This in‑person, 40‑hour/week field position is not eligible for telework.

You will lead AmeriCorps crews, assign tasks, train on tool use and safety, and coordinate with project partners to deliver high‑quality environmental outcomes. You’ll recruit members, evaluate performance, and support professional growth while responding to emergencies as

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience and/or education related to the duties of the position.
• Experience in outdoor experiential education environments supervising crews.
• Field conservation work including trail work or similar outdoor projects.
• Ability to conduct field safety assessments and respond to incidents.
• Skill in planning tasks, assigning work, and monitoring progress.
• Strong written and verbal communication with sponsors, agencies, and the public.
• Administrative tasks such as timesheets, safety reports, and records.
• Education in two- or four-year programs; forest tech or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor AmeriCorps crew on daily field projects with safety and inclusivity.
• Plan, assign, and coordinate tasks with partners to meet specs and timelines.
• Train crew in tool operation and field techniques for restoration activities.
• Perform on-site safety assessments and develop risk mitigation plans.
• Serve as primary onsite representative to sponsors, land managers, and public.
• Recruit and evaluate crew members; support career development.
• Complete administrative documentation with accuracy and timeliness.
• Respond to disasters; deployments to wildfires, floods, and other events.
