Job summary

ERM is seeking a Crew Chief to lead on-site cultural resource monitoring in Nevada. You will work with construction teams and project managers to implement avoidance measures and respond to discoveries, ensuring regulatory compliance throughout the project.

The role demands strong field judgment, clear communication, and the ability to operate safely in active construction environments. It is a full-time, limited-term position with 3 months duration and potential extension.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of Crew Chief experience in Great Basin archaeological fieldwork or cultural resource monitoring.
• Be permitted as a NV BLM Crew Chief or higher.
• Experience monitoring construction or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with Section 106, NHPA, and BLM, NV, and ID agency permitting requirements.
• Ability to identify prehistoric and historic-period archaeological materials.
• Experience using GPS units, Survey123, ArcGIS, or similar field data collection tools.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to work safely in active construction environments and outdoor field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Lead field teams safely and effectively.
• Monitor construction activities for cultural resource discoveries.
• Identify, document, and evaluate archaeological materials and features.
• Implement unanticipated discovery procedures per permits.
• Coordinate with construction crews, project managers, and cultural resources leads.
• Maintain compliance with permit conditions and environmental commitments.
• Complete daily logs, field notes, and photography documentation.
• Collect GPS data as instructed.
• Assist with monitoring summaries, discovery documentation, and technical memoranda.
• Communicate findings and status to project managers and senior archaeologists.
• Participate in cultural resource awareness briefings as needed.
• Support coordination with Native American tribal monitors.
