Job summary

Ryan Companies is seeking a Field Coordinator in the Austin, TX area to lead field operations, coordinate project teams, and drive profitable outcomes. You will work closely with the VP of Construction and project teams to ensure delivering on schedule, budget, and quality while fostering a high-performance culture.

The role requires strong leadership, ability to manage staffing, communicate effectively with clients, and a proactive approach to risk and cost control within a dynamic construction

Responsibilities

  • Ensure team members understand expectations and provide feedback
  • Assist VP of Field Operations in hiring new staff
  • Train team in estimating, scheduling, and construction management
  • Assist in employee evaluation and compensation recommendations
  • Terminate staff with VP approval
  • Participate in presentations to prospective clients
  • Support client contact programs
  • Assist project management in scheduling and budgeting during proposals
  • Assign a bottom-line responsible person to every project
  • Review team estimates for completeness and competitiveness
  • Ensure use of Ryan Tools consistently across projects
  • Aim for maximum profit aligned with Ryan's long-term interests
  • Apply proper cost control techniques on all projects
  • Maintain proper communication and documentation on projects
  • Close out projects and complete punch lists timely
  • Keep accounts payable/receivable current on projects
  • Assist in subcontractor approvals
  • Develop and train subordinates on computer programs
  • Stay current on regional union issues and review labor agreements
  • Prepare monthly status reports for VP of Field Operations
  • Participate in Field Manager/Field Coordinator meetings and support decisions
  • Contribute to division-specific special projects
  • Assist VP of Field Operations with staffing assignments and workload monitoring
  • Align with field operation action plans and communicate updates
  • Stay informed on industry developments and share with team
  • Demonstrate sales ability and client-sensitivity to succeed

Job description

The Field Coordinator is responsible for all activities that occur or fail to occur with regard to projects or personnel assigned to his/her team/region. Works with VP of Construction, Field Teams, and Project Teams.

Some things you can expect to do:
  • Ensure team members understand what is expected of them and hold them accountable for performance, provide regular feedback and have development conversations, delegate appropriate tasks and provide timely and meaningful recognition.
  • Assist Vice President of Field Operations in hiring new staff members. (Hiring of new employees will be discussed at Field Coordinator meetings.)
  • Train team members in proper estimating, scheduling, and construction management techniques.
  • Assist Vice President of Field Operations in employee evaluation process and make recommendations regarding compensation for team members.
  • Terminate (layoff or firing) team members when appropriate. Termination issues will be discussed at Field Coordinator meetings. Any termination shall have the direct involvement and approval of the Vice President of Field Operations.
  • Significant participation in presentations to prospective clients.
  • Participate in past and continuing client contact program.
  • Assist project management in project proposal stage with scheduling and budgeting.
  • Assure that every project has someone assigned to it with "bottom line" responsibility for the project.
  • Review all estimates generated within the team for completeness and competitiveness.
  • Assure that all team members are using the appropriate "Ryan Tools" and that its use is consistent with the methods used throughout the construction department.
  • Achieve maximum profit on each project in a means that is consistent with Ryan's long term interests.
  • Assure that proper cost control techniques are used on all projects.
  • Assure that proper communication and documentation procedures are adhered to on all projects.
  • Assure that projects are closed out properly and that punchlist work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Assure that accounts payable and accounts receivable are kept current on all projects assigned to them.
  • Assist project team members in approval and monitoring of subcontractors.
  • Further develop and train subordinates on new and existing computer programs.
  • Stay current on regional union issues and review and approve project labor agreements.
  • Prepare monthly reports to the Vice President of Field Operations on the status of all projects assigned to them.
  • Actively participate in periodic Field Manager/ Field Coordinator meetings and support decisions made at these meetings.
  • Work on special projects pertaining to the division as a whole.
  • Assist the Vice President of Field Operations in project and personnel assignments and workload monitoring.
  • Assist Vice President of Field Operations in accomplishing field operation "Action Plans"
  • Remain current with new developments in the construction industry in general and communicate them to team members.
  • To be successful in this role , you must exhibit good sales ability and sensitivity to client needs.
