Job summary

Apex is seeking a Construction Technician to support field construction, repair, and stormwater infrastructure projects across the United States. This hands-on role requires practical field skills, physical stamina, and willingness to travel for extended project assignments, often one to two weeks, with opportunities for longer stays.

You will work with experienced professionals on government and commercial projects, perform labor, operate skid loaders, backhoes, and excavators, and help install

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• OSHA HAZWOPER preferred.
• Construction experience with stormwater infrastructure, concrete, piping, or detention/retention basins.
• Experience operating heavy construction equipment and hand tools.
• Physically able to perform demanding field labor.
• Knowledge of sediment and erosion control practices.
• Ability to check grades/elevations with measuring tools.
• Familiarity with safe construction practices and OSHA regulations.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work away from home.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on field labor for construction, repair, and infrastructure improvement projects.
• Assist with construction, repair, and rehabilitation of stormwater systems and related structures.
• Support high-hazard dam repairs, earthwork, and other construction activities.
• Operate hand tools and heavy equipment (skid loaders, backhoes, excavators).
• Check grades/elevations using measuring rods, lasers, and other instruments.
• Document field observations and maintain project records.
• Follow regulations, environmental requirements, and OSHA safety practices.
• Travel to project sites across the United States; typically one to two weeks per assignment.
