Are you a construction-minded leader who enjoys being in the field, working with contractors, and keeping projects moving? Do you have a strong understanding of underground utility construction and the confidence to represent a company in front of cities, contractors, and community partners?

IdeaTek is looking for a Field Construction Supervisor to help launch our fiber construction operations in Tucson, Arizona. As we break ground in a new market, you'll serve as a key on-the-ground representative for IdeaTek, working closely with construction contractors and local stakeholders to help ensure projects are built safely, efficiently, and to the expected standard.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who knows construction, communicates well, and wants to grow into broader project management responsibilities. You'll spend much of your time in the field, building relationships with contractors, monitoring work, working through challenges, and helping establish strong construction practices as IdeaTek expands in Tucson.

A Day in the Life

You’ll spend your day close to the work—checking in with contractors, visiting active construction sites, monitoring progress, and addressing questions or issues as they arise. You may meet with city representatives, review project plans, walk a route with a contractor, or coordinate with internal teams to keep construction moving.

Because Tucson is a new IdeaTek market, you’ll have an opportunity to help establish how we work with local contractors, cities, and other stakeholders from the ground up. Your ability to communicate clearly, solve problems quickly, and represent IdeaTek professionally will be critical to the success of our construction efforts.

What You’ll Do

Key responsibilities include:

• Oversee day‑to‑day field construction activities for fiber deployments, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements.
• Serve as a primary IdeaTek point of contact for construction contractors in the Tucson market, providing direction, monitoring progress, and helping resolve field issues.
• Represent IdeaTek with the City of Tucson and other local stakeholders, communicating project needs, coordinating requirements, and building strong working relationships.
• Monitor construction progress, schedules, materials, manpower, and site conditions and communicate status updates, risks, and potential delays to project leadership.
• Coordinate with internal project management teams to ensure contractors have the information, materials, and resources needed to execute the work.
• Support project planning and execution across construction activities, including scope, scheduling, procurement, and closeout.
• Document field activity, project updates, and issues to maintain accurate visibility into construction progress.
• Help ensure contractors follow IdeaTek safety expectations, construction standards, and applicable local requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve construction processes, contractor performance, and field execution as IdeaTek establishes its Tucson operations.

What We’re Looking For

To be considered for this role, you’ll need the following required qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in construction, utility construction, field supervision, or a related role in the Tucson or Southern Arizona construction market
• Strong working knowledge of underground utility construction practices and construction best practices.
• Experience leading or coordinating construction crews, contractors, or field teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with contractors, municipalities, and internal teams.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to work standard construction hours, with flexibility for earlier start times during periods of extreme summer heat.

• Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.
• Experience with underground telecommunications, broadband, utility, or civil construction.
• Previous experience working directly with municipalities or city permitting/construction departments.
• Telecommunications experience.
