Job summary

Bartlett & West is seeking an entry-level Construction Engineering Technician to perform construction and field observation on projects in Overland Park, KS. You will document progress and perform quality assurance in close alignment with plans and specifications.

On training completion, you will work independently with minimal supervision, applying surveying, testing, and reporting knowledge. Overnight travel and safety certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of construction practices and materials testing concepts.
• Ability to interpret plans and specifications.
• willingness to obtain client certifications as required.
• Experience with MS Word and MS Excel for reporting.
• Ability to pass safety classes and maintain safety mindset.

Responsibilities

• Perform general and advanced construction and field observation.
• Read and interpret construction plans and specifications for QA.
• Learn surveying, staking, line/grade, cross sections for QA reviews.
• Conduct materials testing on soil, concrete, bituminous, and aggregate.
• Maintain log of materials testing results.
• Measure quantities and report installed products; calculate areas/distances/volumes.
• Prepare as-built drawings and documentation in MS Word/Excel and software.
• Monitor contractor performance and address design compliance issues.
• Perform submittal reviews for billing.
• Travel to project sites as required and comply with safety policies.
