Job summary

WSP’s Engineered Construction team in Durham, NC is growing and seeks Construction Materials Testing Technicians to perform field inspections and observations on commercial, industrial, and transportation construction projects. You will test soils and concrete, prepare field reports, monitor safety, and ensure workmanship meets specifications while coordinating with client representatives on site.

Preferred qualifications include ACI Field Level I and related certifications; 3 years of testing

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years related experience.
• Must pass background check and have satisfactory driving record.
• Must be able to prepare reports and documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specs.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing on general building sites and facilities.
• Interpret plans and specs for project compliance.
• Perform soil density testing on site per ASTM and specs.
• Perform sampling and testing of concrete per ASTM and specs.
• Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing activities and density results.
• Observe site operations and inspect rebar and footing work.
• Ensure safety policies are followed and monitor procedures for compliance.
• Interact with client representatives on project sites.
• Analyze testing data for reasonableness and applicability.
