Job summary

Felsburg Holt & Ullevig (FHU) invites motivated Civil/Construction Management students to join as a Summer Construction Intern in Colorado Springs. You will gain hands-on field experience on active transportation projects, splitting time between inspection, design interpretation, and project engineering tasks with licensed engineers.

Responsibilities include documenting construction activities, preparing inspection reports, and coordinating with project teams.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree program.
• Strong interest in both engineering design and construction inspection.
• Ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications with guidance.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions, including nights or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Work directly on roadway, bridge, and transportation construction projects under supervision.
• Observe and document construction activities for quality and compliance.
• Assist in preparing daily inspection reports and recording quantities.
• Support engineers with problem-solving, design interpretation, and contractor coordination.
• Review and track project documentation including submittals and change orders.
• Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, and MS Office to support design and documentation.
• Engage with contractors and teams to resolve field discrepancies.
• Perform field work including ladders, rebar mats, and varying site conditions.
