Job summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our field team in Oregon. You will inspect earthwork, utilities, concrete, and paving, read plans, prepare inspection reports, verify staking, manage site visits, and communicate with contractors and municipal agencies to ensure work conforms to approved plans and specs.

This role emphasizes accurate documentation, clear written and verbal communication, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ year in construction/engineering.
• Organize, prepare, and maintain inspection data/reports in field and office.
• Strong written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes.
• Familiarity with public works inspection practices and procedures.
• Comfort with basic mathematical calculations.
• Proactive, hands-on mindset to keep projects moving.
• Physically capable of working on construction sites.
• Valid OR or WA driver’s license with clean record; insurable to operate AKS vehicle.
• Ability to pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and document construction progress (earthwork, utilities, concrete, paving).
• Read and interpret construction plans and specs.
• Prepare inspection reports.
• Verify field staking accuracy.
• Manage site visits, meetings, and deadlines.
• Liaise with contractor, municipal agencies, and clients.
• Measure quantities and document construction work.
• Review contractor billing for accuracy.
• Coordinate between Construction Managers/Project Managers and contractors/clients.
