On to the exciting news! AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) is looking for a full‑time Construction Manager/Owner’s Representative who will play a vital role in successfully delivering complex private and public development projects. You will ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and meet all quality standards by closely coordinating with contractors, municipal agencies, and internal teams. Your leadership in supervising inspectors, managing bids, and supporting permitting will directly impact project outcomes and client satisfaction. By providing expert constructability reviews and guiding contractor selection, you’ll help shape efficient, cost‑effective construction from start to finish.

What You’ll Do
  • Address construction‑related issues directly or in coordination with the internal Lead Construction Manager or Project Manager.
  • Serve as an AKS representative in the field and build strong working relationships with contractors, municipal representatives, and clients.
  • Negotiate agreement terms, draft contracts, and secure necessary permits and licenses.
  • Prepare and negotiate cost estimates, budgets, schedules, and constructability assessments.
  • Manage budgets and coordinate cost discussions with contractors, subcontractors, and owners.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator to efficiently obtain all required permits.
  • Prepare internal and client‑facing reports that track project progress, schedules, and costs for Project Managers and clients.
  • Ensure all changes to specifications, work scope, and drawings are properly documented.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks to keep work on track.
  • Inspect and document construction progress of streets, earthwork, and utilities to ensure compliance with contracts, specifications, and building codes.
  • Promote a safety‑first work environment and clearly communicate safety protocols.
  • Coordinate and review work with contractors, subcontractors, field staking teams, and inspectors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Review contractor billing and verify the accuracy of billed quantities.
  • Manage construction project closeout, including all documentation, bond estimates, contractor completion lists, and ensuring timely project completion.
  • Oversee warranty release processes to guarantee client satisfaction after completion.
Who You Are
  • A minimum of 4+ years’ proven experience in the construction and civil engineering industries.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and technologies, including the ability to interpret contracts, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Comfortable navigating active construction sites in varying weather conditions and uneven terrain.
  • Demonstrated ability to make swift, strategic decisions under pressure while managing multiple priorities to keep projects moving forward.
  • Proactive planner with a deep understanding of the entire construction project lifecycle.
  • Strong leadership skills that inspire and guide teams effectively.
  • Well‑respected and trusted reputation within the local civil construction community.
  • Have a "Do what needs to be done" mindset, taking ownership beyond assigned tasks and stepping in wherever needed to keep projects, teams, and customers supported and running smoothly.
Nice to Have
  • Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
