Job summary

CDM Smith in Hawaii is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to perform on-site inspections of large-scale projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety codes, and federal requirements. You will document deficiencies, review contractor submittals, and coordinate with engineers and project management teams.

The role requires the ability to travel 100% and to mentor junior staff while communicating effectively with contractors, engineers and federal clients.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have at least 5 years of relevant construction inspection experience.
• Experience with federal projects and contract documents is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects to verify compliance with design specs and regulations.
• Document deficiencies, deterioration, and deviations; prepare corrective actions.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings with engineers and project teams.
• Maintain daily reports and project status updates; provide technical recommendations.
• Oversee field construction services, ensuring safety and quality controls.
• Mentor junior staff and liaise between contractors, engineers and clients.
