Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is seeking Construction Inspectors to support road, bridge, and drainage projects in Vernon Parish. No prior construction inspection experience is required; candidates will be trained and may advance to higher inspector levels based on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR
• Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection of roadway, bridge, drainage, and related construction activities;
• Review and document material deliveries and quantities (including haul tickets and load tickets);
• Perform measurements, field checks, and routine tests under supervision;
• Observe contractor work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and special provisions;
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including field notes, diaries, test reports, and estimates;
• Enter construction project data into required systems (e.g., Site Manager or other DOTD applications);
• Participate in required training and structured certification programs;
• Support public interaction and coordination during construction activities, as needed;
• Assist with emergency or disaster response activities when required
