We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Field Construction Coordinator to join our team at K&A Engineering in Brewster, New York. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Role Expectations:

  • Work with Construction Managers managing the construction of electric substations, distribution lines, generation upgrades, and other projects
  • Execute work orders and inspections
  • Supervise contractors and make sure projects are being completed correctly
  • Establish and Manage construction materials and review material plans
  • Manage activities related to coordination of field inspection and sign-offs for construction projects.
  • Collaborate with management staff to resolve problems and coordinate activities with the Construction Managers and Field Construction Managers.
  • Make sure projects and all construction resources are within the allowed scheduled and budget
  • Adhere to company policies, programs, and procedures as well as Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), New England Independent System Operator.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging open communication, reporting unsafe conditions, and suggesting improvements to safety practices.
  • Diligently ensure compliance with safety regulations, conducting safety inspections, and identifying potential hazards to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in progressive related electric utility industry experience, with transmission facilities construction management
  • Two (2) years of college is preferred
  • MS Suite Required – with high competency in MS Excel
  • Knowledge of NRA clearances and switching orders would be beneficial
  • Experience with Distribution Lines
  • Applicants should have the knowledge, experience, and skills needed to review project plans, specifications, contract enforcement, and applicable technical standards, OSHA, and other regulatory statutes.
  • Detailed work experience in electrical Utility transmission UV/OV & civil construction
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory capacity experience
  • Knowledge of GPS Systems & knowledge of SAP is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings and convey interpretations to contractors
  • Ability to investigate and solve construction problems in a timely manner with minimum dependence on others
  • Computer and Administrative skills
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must have current US Work authorization and valid US Driver License in good standing
  • Must be a resident of New York or able to relocate to New York area for this assigment (per diem is not offered)
