Qualifications

• Inspects commercial construction to verify code compliance and quality of workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and minor commercial field inspections.
• Assist Senior Inspectors on projects.
• Research applicable building codes to substantiate field directives and identify code-compliant efficiencies.
• Observe commercial construction work to ensure conformance with code requirements and workmanship standards.
• Prepare reports and inspection documentation, maintain records.
• Conduct field/site visits.
• Inspect construction projects to identify deficiencies.
• Consult with staff, architects, engineers, designers, and contractors on deficiencies with structural and non-structural requirements.
• Review mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for code safety requirements.
• Consult with customers to explain codes and review plans prior to submittal.
• Attend project meetings to provide information on building code requirements.
• Prepare regularly scheduled and Ad Hoc reports.
• Interpret codes and regulations related to plans review and construction projects; research and bring forward recommendations for updates.
• May review building plans to determine code compliance and compliance with applicable laws, codes and standards under the jurisdiction of ASU.
• May approve or deny plans as appropriate, sign off on approved plans and legal documents.
